How to Clean Your Ducts: Part 2

In our most recent blog, we were giving you step-by-step instructions on how to clean your air ducts. Duct cleaning is extremely important for keeping you and your family safe and healthy. So, let’s move onto the air duct cleaning high springsnext step of our project.

Loosen Dust in Ducts

Next, you are going to loosen up any dust or dirt that has built up in your ducts. This is a very simple process. All you want to do is tap the outside of your ductwork with a broom handle. This will help break up any build up or deposits on your duct walls. Now, you are ready to start cleaning.

Clean Supply Registers

Now that you have loosened all of the dust build up in your ducts, it is time to clean your supply registers. Use your vacuum hose to reach in as far as you can into your ducts. You can also use your vacuum brush to scrape off any excess build up.

Clean Return Registers

After you clean out your supply registers, you will also want to sweep out your return registers. Again, reach as far into the ductwork as possible so you can clear the most debris.

Replace Filter

We mentioned this earlier, however, just replacing a filter can do a lot to help reduce the amount of dust and allergens in your home. Now that you have cleaned out your ducts, it is the perfect time to start fresh with a new furnace filter.
