Testimonial
for North Central Florida Air Conditioning By W. Paul Carver I knew the project would have many pitfalls. The drawing package was incomplete.
The schedule was compressed and there was a rift between design engineers and in house control people. I took the title of
Project Manager because I personally needed the project to succeed. Of all the problems that were conquered, I got blindsided by the HVAC system. It started off as a minor hiccup. The
model on the Mechanical Drawing was for the old refrigerant gas R22. I presumed that it was a matter of simply updating the
model number to a unit that used the more modern R410. I was assured by the General Contractor that everything was reviewed
by his AC contractor and the order was placed. Four months for
delivery seemed excessive and the need for AC waned because it was mid October. Warning signs started to appear. The original
AC contractor came but he only made the heater work and left. I was looking at a twin compressor/condenser unit with a myriad
of pipes and ports, while the evaporator unit only had two pipes. The winter passed with me constantly asking the GC when
the installation will be complete. Hope springs eternal, tis
the season for air conditioning. The GC dispatched a new mechanical contractor and all I heard was how many years of experience
he had and how much he knew. Bad omen. He got busy for about three weeks with piping and many phone calls. I was shocked when
I saw the mess. The silver soldering was the worst I’ve ever seen and it leaked to boot. I wired the thermostat but
he never came back. I’m at the breaking point now. It’s
almost May and no AC. Five months and nothing. This is when I met with the GC and told him I’m going to call in a contractor
that I know and trust. Chuck at NCFAC was responded and his people were there the next day. Unfortunately they found a mess.
As I suspected the evaporator was completely wrong. Now Chuck does battle with the supplier, asking the tough questions, "Like
how did you expect this to work and when can you ship the correct evaporator coil?." Expedited delivery was still two weeks. Then a four man team arrived and in two days they installed the coil with
all the piping and charging plus completely reworked the supply duct with two inch foam board insulation covered with a sheet
metal skin for durability. Every story should have a happy ending
and that’s how it ended. This is the third AC unit that NCFAC has installed for me and I’m pleased with each of
them. This is why when I need AC I call Chuck and his team. W.
